'a book as legendary as its subject' - Susan Sontag

Cinema tends to remember two types of directors, individuals who devise technical or thematic innovations copied by their peers, and the rare ones who produce imagery that escapes the bounds of language. Truly great filmmakers tend to occupy both categories, and you can count the late great Kenneth Anger amongst their number.

Whilst living in Paris in the late 1950s and in much need of some extra cash, experimental film maker, actor and pioneer, Kenneth Anger began to write articles for Cahiers du Cinema magazine, recounting some of the scandalous versions of Hollywood stories he had picked up over the years in and around tinsel town. Anger eventually compiled these articles into a book, which turned into the now legendary Hollywood Babylon

The new reprint is alright, but it's such a shame to not maintain the larger format of the earlier editions. This particular one is a beautiful large paperback copy from the 80s, we've also got a hardback edition and a copy of the sequel.
