The iconic ‘Films and Filming’ magazine, another big hitter. The cover story focuses on Pier Paolo Pasolini’s cult classic SALO or the 120 days of Sodom. Alongside that is a fantastic feature on Paul Newman’s The Drowning Pool, a follow up to 1966’s Harper.

Launched in 1954 from a little basement near London’s Victoria station, Films and Filming built a reputation for its coverage of the burgeoning international art house cinema of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. But, with its queer coded covers, erotically charged images and articles, and suggestive advertisements the magazine was also a radical clandestine document of gay film culture.
